Liar Liar Pants on Fire!

Monday night Jared and I went to a Utah Flash basketball game. The Flash is Utahs (or one of Utah's) semi-pro team.The big deal about this game was that Bryon Russel challenged Michael Jordan to a one on one game and whoever wins the Flash will donate $100,000 to their charity of choice. Apparently there is this big smack talking going between MJ & Bryon Russel. Michael Jordan slammed him in his 'Hall of Fame' acceptance speech, Bryon slipped and MJ scored big and won a big game, Bryon Russel claims he can beat Michael Jordan, etc... get the picture? So this was supposed to be this huge smack down........ Jared and I were skeptical about it. If I were Michael Jordan, why would I have a 'come back' play with a semi pro team, in a junior-turned-senior colleges gym, in Orem Utah, without national covereage, selling tickets for $7? Wouldn't I want to do it in as big of an arena witht he most publicity possible? I mean Michael Jordan playing, come on!The publicity for this game was always like "Bryon Russel will be there, will you?" but never anything about Michael Jordan being there. So JAred and I figured we would go anyways. Because if MJ is there, dude we get to see MJ play!!! And if not, we still get to watch a basketball game and have a fun Family Night. All thru the second quarter the main announcer guy was counting down the minutes until half time. He would say things like "Only five more minutes until Michael Jordan and Bryon Russell get their game on in this court" etc. Over and over about how Michael Jordan was there and was going to play Bryon Russell.
So naturally, we would believe the announcer and we got SUPER excited for half time! And half time comes and again they announce thta Michael Jordan will play Bryon Russell! And they put on this big production. Bryon Russell comes out, talks smack about playing Michael Jordan, then this group of people come out and they pretend to be Michael Jordan. But then Bryon was like "Thats not michael, MJ where are you? Well I guess he didn't show up. My shorts were on, he just wasn't willing" and the lights turned on and the announcer and dancers started handing out free stuff and doing dumb games with the fans. Yep that was it.

We were LIED TO!!! It would have been totally fine if they came out and said that MJ wasn't there, but to announce that he wasn't there and to go thru the big charade? What dirty rotten liars!!!! That made me and Jared so upset! Ok more so Jared than me, but I was still pretty aggitated. So our family night lesson was "don't be liars like the flash. Liars go where murderers go" haha but all in all, we were glad we went, its always fun to have a date night out of the norm!
I love this man! And I don't think we will be going to anymore Utah Flash games soon, but we were glad we went. What games next? I want to go to a BYU game and a Harlem Globe Trotters game, so we will see. =>

Grandpa Miller's 83rd Birthday!

I am going on a post a day this week, now thats impressive! => Bu tI must admit, I am not very good at keeping up on the happenings, or I would not have to do one every day this week => On Febuary 21 the Miller family celebrated Gene Miller's eighty third birthday! It was quite fun! We had a delicious lunch, complete with Miller home-made rootbeer, and then the cousins played basketball. Happy late birthday Gene!

All the boy cousins would practice and practice when they were younger to try and beat Grandpa Miller at a hand squeezing contest. (Gene was/is a farmer and has an extremely firm grip)So of course, Jared had to try his luck, and for the first time in Miller history, it was a TIE! =>

The basketball extravaganza started with Jared and his brother Jakob playing the "I can make this shot and do it better than you" game. (I am sue it has a real name, but i dont know it =>

The game became 3 older boys (Jared, Jakob, and Brian) against 10 or 11 little boys. It was quite entertaining to watch!

Gene is just loving the game! He kept score and was just thrilled to watch all of them play. (Hailey is the cute pregnat lady watching her husband get beat by a bunch of little boys =>)

My Tough Little Man!

So Wednesday night was the playoffs for Jared's basketball team! If they won they would be the best in the school, and get a t-shirt! => So I,of course, went to go support my man and watch him win the game! => I should have known this game was going to be interesting from the beginning. While Jared was warming up an official came up to him and told him he couldnt play unless he shaved his soul-patch. Now, you have to know Jared is an avid facial hair lover, and was pained to shave his beard to play these basketball games, but he has been able to sneak this soul-patch for a month now. And for what a good wife I am, I just laughed. => So Jared misses the first three minutes of the game because he is shaving. When returning he is going full force and loving it. Their team is winning by 10 points throughout the whoel game. In the last 15 minutes of the game Jared steals the ball from a rebound by the opposing team and starts heading towards his side of the court. Well like litterally at half court he collides with a member from the opposite team. The other guy is just knocked backwards, but Jared is like flipped, twisted,trucked, bounced, and flown across the court. Believe me, it was way cool to watch!! => And after all that the foul gets called on Jared, for I dont even know what reason. => and Jared just gets right back up and plays. And me being the good wife I am, I am like cracking up in the stands. I dont think you can picture how cool/funny it was to see this big guy fall so acrobatically. hehehe. Another like five minutes into the game and the ref stops the game and tells Jared to get off the court because he is bleeding. Jared runs over the the score table to get some band-aids (which for some reason they dont have) and I see his arm. From his elbow to the middle of his forearm was just covered in thick blood. It looked way scary, but Jared acted like it was nothing so I was not too worried. => So he ends up having to go to the sports doctor and they say that they can see ligaments and he needs to go to the ER and get stitches right away. This is all during the last half of the game, and Jareds team won!!!! Wooo!!!! => So again after the game, he tells me he needs to go to the ER and get stitches and what do I do..... laugh => Sometimes I wonder why he married me => We go to the ER and I am taking pictures and playing around with the nurse and doing like fake pictures (one witht he q-tip touching the top of the wound then break the q-tip in half and put it in the same place, so it looks like it went in way far =>) and Jared is completely fine and joking around with us. Thedoctor comes is and examines him and explains the situation, so we can decide if Jared is to get stitches or not, and then the doctor starts cleaning Jareds cut. I am right there by the table watching in fascination. The doctor litterally took a medicine saoked q-tip and put it and inch into Jareds elbow!!!! AN INCH!!!! Oh it was crazy to see! => And the whole time Jared never complained or anything. Even when the doctor was shooting the nummer into him (which the doctor said would hurt a heck of a lot) Jared didnt even flinch! I was so impressed!! He is like superman in dealing with pain!! => And because he was such a good boy and help so still at the doctors, I took him to Jamba Juice after => I just thought I would tell you the recent adventure we had => And here are some pics from it. => (wow this is a long post =>) The pics are of Jareds cut after wiping down the gross stuff and after he got all bandadged up! =>
