Coming Home!

I decided to come home on Thursday night. This whole trip was the fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants kind. Basically I don't really work any other way haha. So Thursday late morning I decided I was going to fly home that night. I wanted to be home early enough to get Paige asleep at her normal time and so I could sleep and be able to celebrate my birthday all day with Jared. (my birthday was the next day). So I found a flight on Jet blue that left Long Beach at 8:10pm and got into Salt Lake at 10:30pm. Paige normally goes to sleep around 10:30 or 11, so I figured that would be perfect timing!

My Mom drove me to the airport, we go there around 6:45, thinking I needed to be at my gate and all checked in roughly around an hour before the departure time. Well, after we got my bags checked in the ticket guy told us my plane was delayed and the new departure time was 9:30pm! Holy cow! That was way after the normal time! So my Mom and I made the best of it and went out to dinner. We got back to the airport around 8:30, because thats when the guy said to check back in and be at my gate. So I was.

Around 9:25pm Paige got really fussy! I couldn't blame her, she was exhausted. I started walking around the gate waiting area with her when I overheard a preteen boy tell his parents the sign had changed and our flight was not leaving until 10:10pm. WHAT!?!?! So I had to go and check it out, and it was TRUE! They had not even announced anything, just silently changed the departure time, AGAIN! By this time I was really frustrated and getting overwhelmed with Paige. Luckily I was able to get her to sleep right as the plane was boarding (around 9:45) I was the last one on the plane, with a sleeping baby, thinking it was going to be ok now. As soon as I sat down Paige woke up and started crying again.

I tried everything, but it seemed she just needed to get some crys out. But when the plane started moving she settled down and stopped crying! Horray!!! This was taken just after we took off. I tried to look happy that Paige was on her first flight and we were going home, but looking at the picture now, I didn't mask my frustration/upset/irritation very well haha.
After we took off Paige was a happy little talkative girl. Thank goodness! Then she fell asleep for a little while. Thank goodness again! So during the flight she was really good! It was just the part leading up to it that she had her moments. Then we come to the landing part. Like I said Paige fell asleep but when we were on our final decent the captain turned on all the lights and came over the loud speaker and told everyone we were on our final decent. That woke Paige, and she started crying/fussing. I ended up feeding her and she was great the rest of the decent!
I know this picture looks a lot like the first, but it is so much better! It represents landing and being so much closer to home! And you can even see my expression is not as strained/more happy. => We both survived Paige's first flight! And remarkably well while in the air! Wahoo!!!
The plane landed in the SLC airport at 1:30am. Far from when we were originally supposed to land (10:30pm). I was tired but oh so grateful to be there. And Happy birthday to me! haha Jared was in the baggage claim area waiting to meet us! When Paige saw him she could not take her eyes off him. She literally was just staring at him the whole 25mins it took us to get the luggage. The WHOLE 25mins! SO CUTE!!!
She loves her Daddy so much! It is so cute to see that! I am so grateful we were able to go to CA for a vacation, but I am also so grateful we made it home! (we arrived at our apartment after 2:30am, goodness!)  We both missed Jared! Next time, he will just have to come haha

San Diego

On Tuesday my Dad was able to take off work and we went as a family to San Diego! We stopped first at Seaside Village for lunch.
We ate at a little corner "food court" typpe of thing, so they had something for everyone there. And of course, the boys chose burgers and fires haha
We then went to the USS Midway. It is a retired air craft carrier used in 3 different wars (at least i think it was 3) and now they let people go on it and tour it! How cool is that!?! Cam and Cole are sitting in the ejection seats (ones that eject out of airplanes when a lever is pulled). They thought it was pretty cool. Here they are pretending to be flying and their plane is going down so they are trying to decide if they want to pull the lever or not. What great imaginations! haha
On the top level of the ship you could go in many different typed of aircrafts (bombers, helecopters, spy planes, etc) Paige was in her stroller and could not go in so we watched the boys go in some. Trey stayed with us for a little while and was just making Paige smile so much! She really loves Trey! It is so cute to see!
To the right of the ship, or left depending what way you are facing haha, there is this giant statue of the famous post war kiss. (it was a picture taken of a soldier just coming home from the war and he grabs the first girl he sees and kisses her. They do not know who the soldier is but found out who the girl was. And now the picture is pretty famous, and they even made a statue of it) I love that they did that! So cute!
Mom and I trudged on ahead of the group (they were still going inside various air crafts) and went to the front of the boat. I forget what these are called but there are two of them and they kindof look like horns on the boat, and they hang over the water way high! But it was so cool to go on them! They used to be used to catch the rope/elastic thing that helped planes launch from it, or something like that =>
After the air craft carrier tour we drove by the San Diego temple! (on our way to Old Town/ Mormon Battalion center). I LOVE this temple! It is so gorgeous, even with scafoldings. But then again, what temple isnt gorgeous? But this is one of my all time favorite temples! It is like straight from a fairy tale!!
We then went to the Mormon Battalion center. That place is SO COOL! The Mormon battalion was amazing, and I never realized just how much they did for the settlement of CA!
After the battalion center we went to Islands for some food then headed home. What a fun day trip with the fam!

We Made It!

From our pit stop in Vegas we drove about 3 hours to my parents house. Paige was great again, up until the Cahone (is that how you spell it?) Pass. I think she had just had enough of being in the car. But she had her little moment then fell asleep and slept from about Rancho Cucamonga to Claremont (20ish mins with the traffic we had). When we got to my parents house we were greeted with one of the best treats EVER! A giant cookie cake from the Great American Cookie Company! Yummy!
Everyone was so excited to see us, and especially Paige! She is truely one loved little girl!
The boys and my Mom had bought some books for Paige as a "welcome to our house, we love you" present. So nice! And the boys wasted no time each picking a book and reading it to Paige. They are such good uncles!
I am so glad we made it, and especially glad Paige did so well on that long drive! Horray for vacations!!

Paige's First Vacation! Driving There

Vacation Time!! Sat Aug 14th Kalyn Paige and I drove down to Utah! We left our (Mine and Jared's) apartment ten minutes til 7:00am. Early.
Paige did GREAT in the car! She loved to look out the windows and also sing along to the songs Kalyn and I were singing! SO CUTE!!! I just about melted when she sang along to a song for the first time! Thats my girl!
We had a pit stop in Vegas to have lunch with my cousin Cera!! It was perfect timing because Paige was starting to get tired of the car (who could blame her after 5 1/2 hours?) and it was great to get here out and moving around for a couple hours. It was wonderful to see Cera again! The last time I saw her was a couple weeks before my wedding, 2 years ago!! Far too long! =>
Cera is about 29 weeks pregnant with a little girl, Paisley! Paige and Paisley were already just hanging out and chilling together! => So Cute! I hope they are able to play together when they are both older!

Thanks for meeting us for lunch Cera!! I just LOVED seeing you again!
Now onto the home stretch of driving! Claremont here we come!!

Long Drive

Friday was an eventful day, full of events from morning to night! The morning I took Paige to Beehive Clothing to meet the ladies I worked with. She did great and the ladies just loved her! That afternoon I went to craft day with my family. Jared was working and went to the temple. That evening was Jared's friends wedding reception. The invitation said it was in the Ogden area so we figurged we would go (we didnt go to the wedding itself because it was in Idaho Falls). The reception was from 6:30-9:30 and we left at6::15, figuring we would get there around 7ish. While driving thru Salt Lake there was a double rainbow! I tried to take pictures of it but the second one was not coming out in the pictures. I was wearing tinted sunglasses so I decided to put them over the camera (thinking of them as a filtered lens). It worked better, suprisingly! The picture was tinted red/brown tho so I had to do some editing to make it normal hues. Here is the finished product:
You can see the one rainbow really well and to the left of it you can slightly see the second one! So cool!! Can you just imagine how much better an actual filtered lens would be!?! Well anyways, back to the story. We ended up driving past Wolf Mountain and Eden! We got to the reception right around 8:45pm. What a long drive! The funny part was we got there, were the last ones thru the recieving line, it started to rain/thunder/lightning (the reception was outside) so we said our "congrats" got in the car (they ended the reception early due to the weather) and drove the 2ish hours back home! We were not even there for 10mins!! haha What a time! But in the over 4 hours of driving Paige did great! It makes me more at ease for my trip to CA this weekend!
And again last night we drove a long ways, up to Layton to go to my aunt Heather's for dinner. Paige did GREAT again! And she fell asleep in Heathers port-a-crib! Which was another thing I was nervous about, to see if Paige would sleep anywhere other than her crib. She does! Wahoo! Now I am even more excited to go down to CA!! =>

Life Update

Life is crazy, there are always unexpected twists and turns, and thats to be expected. But it seems that this last month was full of more of those than ever before! Yes, it has been a month of homeless/vagabond-ness. We left our apartment in Denver on August 26 and have yet to move into an apartment (although we are scheduled to move into one tomorrow!) As this month of interesting adventures comes to a close, I began to look back and see if I would have predicted any of it. Jared seems to think our life could never be made into a movie. A phrase he often used to describe it "You couldn't write this stuff if you tried." And I have to say it is true. From our daily happenings to the month as a whole, no one could have guessed all the weird and random things that have presented themselves, and even to look beyond that, no one could have predicted the happenings of this year of marriage! But, thats what makes life fun! Our last month has been filled with staying with many different family members (and again, Thank You all so much for letting us invade your homes!!), looking at and debating taking jobs, searching out places to live (in various states), and just having fun and enjoying being together wherever we were! I love Jared and although at times I was sick of not being stationary, I have really enjoyed and am thankful for that time I got to spend with him! But I am also way excited to move into an apartment tomorrow and start another chapter in our lives! I think I'll title it 'Stationary Times' haha

Stinkin Utah Roads!!

So, Jared and I have not been in Utah more than three days and we already are being driven crazy by the roads! The WHOLE STATE of Utah is under road construction!!!! On friday (Aug 28) Jared and I had a full day of appointments to look at apartments, so full we were a little worried about making them all on time. So we leave my aunt Heather's house and head down to Salt Lake (a trip which previously took us a little less than 20 mins to make) We had been on the same freeway for an hour and a half and had not made it to Salt Lake yet!! Jared was not very happy about the traffic, in fact he was fed up with it. He said that traffic jams caused by something cool are ok but this "stupid roadwork jam" is unacceptable! Oh I was laughing quite hard. We finaly make it to an overpass, which is a couple exists from down town and all of a sudden a police car pulls in front of a car ahead of us and makes the whole line stop! We didn't know what was happening until Jared saw and told me to look.
This is what I saw, and I did not see anything out of the ordinary, until Jared told me that the 'support beam' behind the red truck is infact not a support beam, but a new fuel tank that the truck was carrying! When people started realizing what was going on they began to turn off their cars and walk around. We were going to be there for a while. There were even kids running around playing with toys and balls. Jared and I called our appointments and tols them we were not going to be able to make it. But it was fun to be walking around the freeway. =>
They unhitched the truck and he drvoe away. Believe you me, it was a good thing the north bound side of the freeway was empty, that trucker was raging mad! and who would blame him!?!? Can you imagine going 70mph down a freeway and all of a sudden being jerked back and have your cargo stuck on the overpass? That can not be a fun feeling => After he drove away two large forklifts came across the freeway and knocked the tank off the overpass. Jared was watching it but I wasn't paying attention, and all of a sudden this huge noise was being made. Now I had never heard a bomb go off in real life, but I would imagine it sounds a heck of a lot like that big boom we heard when that thing hit the ground! It was cool!
After the tank was down they began to let cars pass, so we got to pass right by it! That thing was enormous!! Look at that damage! I would not have believed it had I not seen it!! Could you imagine if a car had been behind that truck!?!? I don't think any were, and I do not think anyone got seriously injured, but there was a line o police cars and amblences like I had never seen before! Not to mention news crews up the wahzoo! Once we initially passed it the roads we open and clear. And Jared had decided that that was a cool traffic jam and was glad it was not a dumb construction one! =>
I don't have any pictures of this next one but the next day, coming back from Pleasant Grove we were in ANOTHER traffic stand still ont he freeway! But luckily again we were up pretty close to the front so we saw the action. A WalMart truck had tipped over and they had to bring another one to unload all the cargo into and then a machine to get the truck out of the road! We passed by as they were still unloading the truck but the take-off machine was there! And not to mention the coutless other times any day that we were stuck in dumb construction traffic!! So a caution to all, when in Utah avoid any sort of timed commitment because you never know how the Utah traffic fairy is going to strike! =>

The Beginning of the Caribbean Adventure!

We went on a 7 day cruise with my family last week! It was AMAZING!! The cruise went to the Western Caribbean (Cayman Isalands, Roatan, Belize, Cozumel) and they were all incredibly gorgeous!! This is the first of many posts to come, and they may take a whiile because I am getting pictures from my parents too. But this is of August 15, the day we flew into Miami. This is Jared's third time flying his whole life!! (One when he was little to some family memmbers funeral, one to his mission and one back) And its like my fifty billionth time! But it was fun!
This is how I pack my clothes. I don't know why, but I seriously can not pack without laying out everything first! I blame my mother who made me do it as a kid so she could se I have everything! Jared was making fun of me for it, but hey, I didn't forget anything! =>
One of the wives here was nice enough to give us a ride to the airport! Here we are, about to embark on an epic adventure!! And believe it or not, I am such a good packer that we did not check any bags, we only brought two carry on bags and my purse! I think that is impressive! =>
In the Denver International Airport (DIA) you check in and then have to ride an automated train to your terminal! There were not many people flying that day so we got to sit on the only seat in the train cabin! Sweet!
This is us, almost eight miles in the air!! On our first married flight!! (and Jared's third!! I still can't believe that!)
We met up with my family in Minniapolis, where we then took a flight together to Miami! It was so much fun getting to fly with them, but the boys were a little crazy after being stuck in an airport for a layover of 3 hours!
Me and my lover in the airport!! After surviving his first married and recent flight!! =>
Happy anniversary Mom & Dad!! All this traveling was taking place on their 22nd wedding anniversary! They are such troopers and love birds!!
Walking on the plane!! We are almost there!! Just one more three hour plane ride and we are in Miami!!!
Cole and I walking on the plane!! I am overjoyed ot have my whoel family here with me and Jared!! And I could hardly wait for our cruise!
On our plane!! Horray!!! And it was great because we all sat together!!
The three little boys sat together, and they did wonderfully! We were all suprised! =>
And the love birds got their own row!! What lucky anniversariers!! =>
We made it to Miami!!! Horray!! And now its a waiting game for their luggage...
Luckily all their luggage made it too!! Now time to board the last bus of the night to take us to our inn!! This is my mom and I on the bus! We were taking pictures of everyone else and we wanted our picture taken, but for some reason we could not coordinate smiling and keeping our eyes opened, so we had to pretend there was something interesting to see => (there really was just a pile of luggage where we were pointing)
Waiting to get our room keys, and lucky for us my Dad was there, in Miami you need to know spaanish, you can hardly get along without knowing spanish!! Its insane!!
Can you tell I was excited to be there? => ANd Jared did not have the vacation bug yet, don't you worry tho, he got it eventually! =>
After getting all situated in our rooms I was the mastermind and found a place to order pizza! Ok, so we were the ones with the pizza fliers, but I brought them to my parents to order! => So at like midnight we ordered pizza for the whole fam, and while we were waiting we played a tantalizing game of Uno!
Finally, a little before 1:00 in the morning our pizza came, and we had a Miami pizza party!! Now time for bed and on to our cruise!!!

Trip to Idaho and Family Reunion!

As I said in the previous post, Jared and I went to Idaho this past weekend. We drove thru Wyoming, which is entirely the same the whole way thru!!! These pictures were taken well apart, and yet...
This is when the drive seems to be going fine...
and then we realize this is taking forever!!! Ok, so the pictures were not taken at the beginning and end of the trip, but they were taken a good distance apart, and yet the backgrounds look almost identical! Oh Wyoming!!
When we got to Idaho the first stop we made was at our storage unit. I posted before about stuffing the beanbag into the trunk, and we also stuffed two huge tubs of kitchen crap and a very large suitcase filled with clothes. but before we unloaded all of that, we wanted to get our rock climbing gear out.
And of course, its in the back of the storage unit, towards the bottom of a stack of tubs! So I climbed on back there and began rearranging things so we could get our gear out, but in the process I packed myself in. => Silly me lol
On Friday we went to Brett's wedding (previous post) and on Saturday we went to the Miller family reunion! They reserved this place in Rock Springs. It had two GIAGANTIC slip-n-slides and a big zipline! What a fun place!
Jakob, Jared's older brother, wanted to go down the slip-n-slide but didn't want to get wet, so he tried this position. A little further down the slide one of his cousins pushed him so he got all wet! All that balancing skill for nothing! =>
Jared's sisters Katie and Melissa were just having the time of their lives, getting as wet as they could!
Jared didn't want to miss out on all the fun, so of course he grabbed the biggest tube, to try and be king of the slip-n-slide, but again, some of his cousins put the kaibosh on that and totally rammed into him, flipping him over! Oh so funny!!!
The party really got started when Drew and Karen, Jared's parents, went down! They are so fun and cute together! =>
Jared decided he wanted his body to meet the sun. => Haha Look at that handome stud with the huge farmers tan!! I love him!!
This zip line was definately not what I expected. The zipper things you hold on to come on and off, and don't clip on, just lift on! I thought for sure I was going to turn my body the wrong way or something and have it get off the cable and I go plumiting to the ground!
But it didn't, and I am still alive and kicking! But it was a littlee touch and go there for a while because to get off, you have to run on the ground to slow down or you would hit a big metal wall at the bottom, and my stop running was a little rusty. =>
There was this beautiful, manmade waterfall behind the zipline! And of course we had to get pictures by it! =>
This is like the twentieth shot! We are not very good at taking pictures of us and capturing something in the background! => But it finally worked! Yay!
While walking back to the coverd area with the food, we passed the top of the slip-n-slide, where a lot of his family was waiting to go! It was like a slip-n-slide party!! =>
And before people started leaving, we needed to take a family picture! All of Jared's siblings were there! It was so fun to see them all again!
There are two pictures that I put up because I like different things about both of them, so if there was a way I could combine them, I would => But I can't so I figured if I put both of them up, I will have covered my bases =>
This is Jared and his dad! They always have to have a talk about politics or money or some political thing before they leave! I think it is so cute! And I tried to catch them in action, but a pose is cute too!!
After the family reunion we went back to Jakobs house and I took a nap. And when I woke up, this is what I woke up to.... the boys glued to the screen playing Halo 3! These boys could play this all day if their wives let them! Personally I think this game is stupid and pointless, you just go around killing eachother. Now Mario Cart, thats a good video game! => hahaha
That night we went to Olive Garden with Jakob, Haylie and their adorable baby Madison! I think this picture is so cute! Can't you just see the love for their baby gushing out!?!?! Thanks again for letting us crash at your house Jakob and Haylie!
We had so much fun on our mini vacation in Idaho! Now only two more weeks of selling then off to the tropics with my family!! We can make it! =>
