Happy Father's Day!

Today is Jared's first Fathers Day as a father!! I think I am more excited than he is. => I wanted to do something special for him, so i decided to make him a nice cake (Jared doesn't like presents, mainly to spend money on presents, so I have to think of other ways to celebrate. & he can't get upset for me cooking haha. So a cooking treat it is!)

On one of my craft blogs I am addicted to they have a lady come and teach something about cake decorating each week. I have been reading and learning, so I figured I was up for the task of making a four layer fondant cake. The first step was to make the layers. Check. Second was to freeze them for at least 24hrs (make them not as crumply and easier to manage/frost). Check. Then I was supposed to stack them and frost them. I didnt even out the cake layers before I froze them, figuring it would be cleaner to cut a frozen cake than a warm one. BIG MISTAKE! Frozen cakes are HARD (who would have thought?) So I had to put even more force to cut the cake, and ended up slicing my finger pretty bad. Luckily Paige was asleep. So I cleaned the cut as best I could and got a paper towel to put pressure on it. After 10 mins I had soaked 1 1/2 paper towels in blood. I was getting nervous, so I called Jared and told him to come home. 20 mins after I cut my finger it was still bleeding. Jared got home and examined and cleaned it. Needless to say I was a little handicapped in the cake decorating department. While I was waiting for Jared to get home I finished dirty icing the cake (luckily I cut my non-dominant hand), but there was no way on earth I was going to make and mold fondant now. And Jared really wanted to eat the cake, so I let him. No more cutting frozen cake for me =>

As for Jared being a father...
His little girl just LOVES him! I can not believe how much of a Daddy's girl she already is! Whenever she hears him talk she will look around and turn her little body until she can see him and then she just stares. (She only does that for me when she is hungry, figures haha) And he can always make her smile!
And he is such a good Dad too! He loves taking care of her! He even changes diapers willingly, watches her when I need more sleep or to get out of the house, and anythign and everythign else needed to take care of a baby! And he never complains!
When I cut my finger yesterday Paige desprately needed a bath (her spit up got EVERYWHERE!) and Jared jumped right in and did it! He is such a dream! => Side note, Paige LOVES the bath! She will just lay there so calm and peaceful, and she is even starting to smile in it now! What she does not like is putting clothes back on. haha

This is Jared and Paige on their first Father's Day! You can often find them just chilling like this! They love eachother so much!!

And what kind of blogger mom would I be if I didn't post more pictures of Paige for her Grandmas (and anyone else who likes to see) => We took some pictures of Paige today to send to her Grandpas for Fathers Day, so that is what they are from.

Paige's little legs are getting so strong! She can hold herself up in a standing position for a couple seconds (i think 45 is her max) All we have to do is help her with balance! What an impressive trick at 5 1/2 weeks old!
She really does like to stand. She gets so frustrated sometimes and the ways to calm her down is to either stand her up or switch her around so she can see everything (social and curious baby)

I really need to hone my camera speed to be able to catch her smiling. This is the tail end of her smile, and its the onyl shot I got of her smiling spree. She went on smiling for about 10 mins and I either would not have the camera in my hands or had just taken a picture and it was loading. One of these days I will get a picture of her great, oh so adorable smile!
HAPPY FIRST FATHER"S DAY JARED!!!!

Memorial Day Nature Walk

I do not always enjoy Jared's job and the hours he works, but I love that he can take off when he feels like it. He took holiday on monday, so we had the whole day with him!! To celebrate Memorial Day we went on a family nature walk! It was our first family outing, and it was GREAT!!
We went to the Bridal Veil Falls area and walked along the trails. Jared and I had gone here once, when we first moved to Utah, and the nature was all fall colored. That was pretty, but it was fun to see it all green!
Jared was champ at pushing the stroller! I LOVED watching him push it! He is such a cute dad!!
Me and my little girl in nature! => Ok, nature with a paved walkway, but it still counts haha. Paige did so good on our walk! We were walking for about an hour and a half and she only started fussing at the end (because it was her feeding time). It was GREAT to get out of the house! And it was even greater to be out and playing with Jared! I think it should become a regular occurance to go out in nature and play together. We will see how good we get at it =>
When we got home I wanted to take a picture with my little girl. The only ones I have of us are in the hospital, and now she is 3 weeks old!
And of course we had tog et a family picture! Look at our cute little family! I LOVE those two so much!! I am so glad we were able to go out and play and celebrate Memorial Day!!

Jared's Birthday and Cake!

Tuesday was Jared's 24th birthday! Happy Birthday Jared!! He is not the biggest fan of celebrating his birthday so I am slowly increasing my celebrations (last year no present and all homemade decorations. This year some presents and cake. Next year, who knows => ) This year I made no such promise to not spend any money on his birthday, honestly I think Jared just forgot his birthday was coming up or he would have asked me to not spend money haha. So I decided I was going to make him a sweet birthday cake! I had this great vision in my mind of a two layered masterpiece.
I was really excited when I made the two cakes and they turned out right!! Trust me, that was an accomplishment in and of itself! Then it was an even bigger accomplishment when I got them out of the pan and staked on top of eachother! Wahoo I was on a roll! Then I trimmed the edges to make the cakes even, and thats when it all started crumbling, literally. I had bought two cans of frosting but with all the crumbling it was clear that it was not working. So Kalyn (she was over playing with me) went to WalMart and got three more cans of frosting, and good thing she did! It turns out if you glob the frosting on the side and then spread a thick mass of it, the cake doesnt crumble. So this cake is probably more frosting than actual cake, but hey, thats the good part anyways =>
The finished cake product! I did the ENTIRE cake by myself! Yay me! Kalyn was here to watch me and laugh at me, but she never touched the cake! I love watching those cake shows, the ones where they make the AMAZING cakes, and I think thats what inspired this. But let me tell you, it is so much harder than they make it look! I have much more awe and appretiation for their cake decorating talent now haha.
When Jared got home we had a mini party all ready for him! (me and Kalyn) We sang the most beautiful rendition of Happy Birthday and he blew out his candles in one try! => This is a momentous year for Jared because it is the last year only one box of candles will suffice for his birthday. In the stores the most they come in is boxes of 24. Next year, TWO boxes are going to be needed, what an oldie haha.
He is anxiously waiting to eat this cake... haha
And he doesn't trust me with a big knife haha.....
Yes the picture is blurry (blame the photographer) but this is an action shot of Jared eating the first bite of birthday cake! He is officially 24!!! (as a side note, yes I am still pregnant even tho you probably cant tell from the picture hahahaha! jk)
With all the people (ok 3 of us) we hardly made a dent in the cake! But it was yummy! And Jared enjoyed his little birthday party! He is beginning to see the light on birthday celebrations! haha As for next year, I am definately buying a cake! There is a reason people get paid to do this and I don't. And never again (ok I probably will cave eventually but not today) am I ever doing anything with sprinkles! They are a MESS!!
And it wouldn't be a true Jared birthday without his annual birthday picture. =>
Happy Birthday Handsome! I love you!!

Baby Shower!

My Utah Walker Aunts (aunts from my Dad's side that live in Utah) threw me a baby shower on March 20th! I could not believe how much fun it was, and how delicious the food was!
These were the cute invitations they made! One of the cutest ideas I have ever seen! =>
Liann directed a fun matching game! All the words had something to do with pregnancy, and if you got the match you got the candy that went along with them. (ex: Breastfeeding=milk duds, Umbilical Cord=twislers, Conception=fun dip, Third Trimester= Chunky, etc etc) So fun! Some of my Pommerville aunts (and cousin) that came!

Some of the delicious food! (Probably the best chocolate covered Strawberries I have ever had!)The cute quesadilla makers!Look at that delicious dessert!! So Yummy!!!Present time! Our little one got so many cute things! I am so excited to use them all!! These were the gifts the Utah Walker Aunts got the baby. What a cute way to display them!!All the attendees. Thanks for coming! You made me feel so loved! =>My Mom and one of her sisters! They look so happy, I love it!Me and my Mom! She came up from CA for this! I am so grateful she could make it! I LOVED having her there!Me and my four aunts that threw the baby shower! (and little cousin). Thanks so much again! I really appreciated it, and had a blast! I love you all!! Now if I can just get this baby out to use all the cute baby things! =>

New Year Festivities

I forgot I did not write about our new year festivities, and I suppose now is as good of time as any.
As any good celebration party should have, we got a cookie cake from the Cookie Co. That place is so good to us! We asked for extra icing (because thats the best part) and they gave us a good amount! And my Mom had to show it off like Vana White. =>
The giant cookie was not our ony food. Our whole breakfast table was covered with delicious snacks! I took this picture about halfway thru the getting out food process. We later took al the paper goods off the table and replaced it with more food, which is of course, the best part of parties. =>
While waiting for the big moment we played charades, watched a movie, chatted, then finally it came! The ball dropped and poppers were popping.
Happy New Year!! Welcome 2010! => I like that in the picture of my family I caught my Mom and Dad going for their New Years Kiss, and Jared and I have a picture of our New Years kiss! Oh so romantic! =>
January first the fam went to see Avatar in 3d. Jared has taken some of the boys to watch it earlier in the week and they loved it, so we figured it was worth it, and it would be cool to see in 3d. And for some reason in this picture I look totally fat pregnant. I find it kind of depressing, but I guess such is life. There are flattering pictures and not, this is the latter. But is was a good movie, and worth it =>
After the movie we dropped Kalyn off at home (she was feeling under the weather) and the rest of us went to eat at Tommys! JAred had never been there before, and of course my Dad could not pass up the opportunity to educate his son-in-law on the finer foods in life. => We were going to go to the original one, in downtown LA, but it was too far away and my Mom was nervous about taking all the boys down there, so we settled for the closer one.
Look at all that delicious, greasy, chilie filled food! Yumm!! The little boys were excited to be there, its like better than McDonalds for them, because they only get to go once in a blue moon.
My Dad was entirely too excited to be there and eating this food. Jared liked it, he said it was very good. And this picture catches Jared enjoying his food/chuckiling at my Dad raving about it, and my Dad bursting with satisfaction and joy. haha Priceless.
The next day was Kalyn's little incident. She fainted int he bathroom, hit her head on the floor, and then couldn't feel or use her arms/hands. Jared was down the hall and saw the whole thing pan out, got to her right as she was making contact with the ground. He and my Dad gave her a blessign and then the paramedics came. They were really nice and calm men. What a blessing they are! They put Kalyn in all this gear then on a stretcher and out to the ambulence.
It was a cool sight to see the fire engine, paramedic truck, and ambulence in front of our house. Mom rode in the front of the ambulence to the hospital and Dad drove his car and followed them. After all the hospital tests and stuff Kalyn was released, and now she is all better and partying in London!
After we found out Kalyn would be ok and my Dad came back to get the boys Jared and I headed back to Utah to start the other exciting phase of this year, his surgery. Yep, all this excitement within a week. What a week. haha But hey, we can say that 2010 definately started off with a unique bang =>

Merry Christmas!!

Happy Christmas! Santa definately came to the Walker house!
The morning started out by the little boys waking up early then going around the bedrooms (with Mom) and caroling everyone awake. They were so happy to be up and it be Christmas!
Next there was the traditional eye closing train to the kitchen (Santa normally leaves candy in the stockings, and you have to eat breakfast before we can eat candy) But legend has it that if you peek to see if Santa came, before its time to open presents that all the presents will disappear. So we make a train of closing eyes (youngest to oldest)and Mom leads everyone to the kitchen. I caught this picture right as the train was dispersing.
After breakfast the youngest kid goes with Dad to see if Santa came. And he did! He ate all the fudge we left out for him and the reindeers gobbled up the carrots, and Santa even left us a note! The three little boys took turns reading parts of the note aloud to everyone!
Then it was time to open the presents! Dad is always in charge of passing the presents out, he does such a good job with it. Look at that beautiful tree and all those presents! =>
It just so happens that the boys all got blue robes for Christmas. Mom had planned it for Trey, Kaden, Cameron, and Cole and I had bought Jared one without knowing her plan. So it was a fun suprise to see them all with their robes. And now everyone has a robe! Mom, Kalyn and I have matching pink robes that we got a couple Christmases ago, Dad has a dark blue one, and now all the other boys have dark blue ones! We are just a robe full family! =>
Me and my love on our second Christmas together!
Actually its me, my love, and our little one! Thats a crazy thought! =>
I couldn't get the little boys to stop playing with their toys long enough to take a picture of them in their matching jammies, but I did get one of the big boys in their matching jammies! Aren't they so handsome!?!
Later that day/evening we went over to Gram and Pa's house to see the rest of the family. While we were there the fam presented Gram and Pa witht heir family present (Jenny collected pictures and favorite thoughts about Gram & Pa and put the into seprate books. One book all about Pa and one all about Gram) And the fun part is that Lindsey & Zach and Jenny and her kids got to watch them open their presents via the internet (Skype). That was a fun treat! (Jenny was on the computer on the chair and Lindsey was on the computer Kayln is holding)
They loved their books! That was such a great idea for a present, and I am so glad I was able to contribute to it!
I love Christmas time and I am so thankful that Jared and I could come down to California to spend it with my family this year! I love celebrations, I love Chrsitmas, and I love my family!!
