My Apple Pie!

I was just looking at picturess from the beginning of our marriage. I guess I am feeling nostalgic thinking that we have been married 11 1/2 months! And I can not believe I never put pictures of my first homemade pie on here!! I made an apple pie from scratch when we were married probably 5 months. I don't know what got into me, one day I just felt like being homemaker-ish, so I called Corian and got her apple pie recipie! I made the crust and top, used home grown apples from Jared's aunt and uncles and doused them in flavoring and everything! And it was perfect timing, Jared came home like 2 minutes before it was done!
If you can't tell I was a little excited that it actually came out and looked like it was supposed too!! And Jared was quick on the camera to catch my epression perfectly! =>
I look like a little Betty Crocker.... haha but looks can decieve! => Jared said he liked the pie, but I could never tell if he just said he liked it not to hurt my feelings or he really did like it => He ate about half of it, then we went somewhere (i dont remember where) and when we came back it was not so good to eat. I do have a confession to make, I only ate a little nibble of an apple. I don't like apple pie. I think it cooks all the juicy goodness out of the apples! I know, weird that I chose to make a pie that I do not like, but such is life! So I will just have to take Jared's word for it! But this is proof, I do not burn everything I cook, only most everything I cook, and that I can learn new things! haha

Garden of the Gods

On Saturady Jared and I, and one of his friends, met up with Jared's cousin Jeff down in Colorado Springs and went rock climbing at Garden of the Gods. That place has huge, beautiful sandstone formations!
These rocks just pop up out of nowhere! It is so pretty!!
There were so many different clusters of them! Jared's cousin Jeff has climbed quite a few of the formations. On Saturday the boys were kind enough to take it easy. Out of all the formations there is only one top rope route. It was my second time on real rock and Jared's friend Jermiah's first time.
I was super excited to go, yet scared at the same time! I love climbing up the rocks, its the coming down part I hate. I don't know why, but I just have a really hard time with it. =>
The group trecking up to those big rocks! As I caught up to them and passed the black car on the right a dad pointed out to his daughter (who was about 4) and said "Look at those people, they are going to climb the big rocks, do you see all their gear?" I felt so famous and cool! Then I realized the only gear I was carrying was a camera, so he probably wasn't talking about me, but I was associated with the people who had the gear, so I was cool by association! =>
We came to the base of the top rope routes, and the boys had the job of finidg a way up to the top so they could set the ropes up. What brave little soldiers! =>
This seemed so high to me! Yes, I am just a pansy when it comes to heights. I was nervous one of them was going to fall!! Maybe rock climbing is good for me, I can get all my worry wart tendincies out now, then I can be a chill parent....haha probably not.
The boys made it down safe and were ready to climb this rock! It was not as vertical as they would have liked, it was more like a slab, but it was good for beginners, and they found ways to challenge themselves!
While we were climbing this momma deer and her baby came right close to us! Jared called them tame deer because we didn't scare them at all. they just stood there and watched us. Then, of course, when I try and take a picture they decide to leave, so I just caught a glimpse of the baby bambi.
Jared was cute enough to tell one of the boys to take a picture of me at the top, because he knew I would want to document it for the whole world to see!! =>Yep, I really did make it! And a couple of times to the top! I am not going to lie, sometimes I wanted to quite half way thru it, but thats what is good about going with men, they know how to push you to finish!
There were not very many good hand holds on these routes, you used your legs more than anything. And there were some parts where there was just smoothe rock, the boys had contests to see who could go the farthest on those parts. It was very entertaining to watch. And sandstone is an interesting rock to climb. It has parts that are so grainy that you have to blow off some sand to get a goot grip. And if you pull the wrong way on a had=nd hold of foot hold, it will come off the rock and crumble. Many interesting experiences with that here. =>
There was this one boulder jutting out of the rock that you couldn't climb up the middle because of the lack of grips. Did that stop the boys from trying.... nope => But they did come up with funny positions to try and get up it!
And I learned how to belay here! It is not as hard as I thought it would be, its just nerve wracking when someone slips, because you control their life essentially! But I got the hang of it, and I even learned various tips and tricks so I can belay someone double my weight! Oh yeah, thats skill!! => haha
My handsome husband!! I love watching him in outdoor settings! He is like a kid in the candy store, just so excited to be there and loving every second of it!
The ropes get dirty from all the friction with the metal and the rocks, and as consequence so do your hands! I found this out the first time Jared took me real rock rock climbing, so I came prepared this time with wet wipes to clean off!!
Haha! He loves being outside!! Thats a true Idaho boy for ya! => I am getting to enjoy being outdoors more, especially when the elevation is too high for mosquitos!! I always have so much fun when I go on adventures with Jared!!
It was like perfect timing! When we were wrapping everytihng up because it was becoming dark a random stranger walked by, and he was nice enough to take our picture! This is the motely crew from left to righ, Jermiah, Jared, me, and Jeff! It was so much fun!! Garden of the Gods was absolutely gorgeous!! I can not wait to go again, esoecially when I get more skilled so I can do sport climbing with Jared!!

I Conquered The Wall!!!

I don't have a muscle in my forearm. My palmaris longus is missing, ok not missing, its just a genetic defect so I never made one....i guess this makes me a freak. => Not having a prominent forearm muscle puts me at a slight disadvantage, you could even say handicap, for some activities. Rock climbing being one of them, since this muscle is used heavily in climbing. But I dont let that stop me! I love to rock climb, I just dont climb hard runs or I can only do half of them before my arms give out (yes and a big part of that is lack of strength in the other muscles that I do have => ) Jared and I brought back our gear from Idaho and went to a rock climbing gym for FHE two night ago.
Jared and his friend Jermiah were climbing routes with colors, like only step on pink, or only step on blue, etc.... I was climbing just to get up the wall => I am not that rock climbingly advanced/experienced yet => haha
One of the walls Jared did had two overhangs and it was a 5.10 (which is apparently pretty hard, but the whole way they rate the routes is pretty sketchy to me)=>. It was way fun to watch him scale up that thing!! After the boys climbed a time, it was my turn again!
After looking at the different possibilites or routes to climb, I wanted to do the one Jared did. Not for any other reason but that that had more pink tagged rocks than any other run, therefore it was cutest. Foolish I know. =>
As Jared was pep talking me for the climb I was wondering if I could even get past the first overhang! He said it was alright if I didn't make it to the top, and that he would still love me (I had to ask just in case => ) So I started making my way up... and let me tell you, I just about quit after the first overhang!! I was dying up there!!! =>
But I pushed thru and made it!!!! Yay me!!! => I was so proud of myself!!! => And no, my techique is non-existent so I looked like a little wild money climbing up the wall, but who cares, I conquered that thing!! And stayed mostly on the pink!!! Oh yeah!!!! (Can you tell I am still beaming about it?)This is a picture of almost the whole wall, and you can even see the pink tabs!! I love rock climbing, not as much as Jared does but I am gettign there!

Trip to Idaho and Family Reunion!

As I said in the previous post, Jared and I went to Idaho this past weekend. We drove thru Wyoming, which is entirely the same the whole way thru!!! These pictures were taken well apart, and yet...
This is when the drive seems to be going fine...
and then we realize this is taking forever!!! Ok, so the pictures were not taken at the beginning and end of the trip, but they were taken a good distance apart, and yet the backgrounds look almost identical! Oh Wyoming!!
When we got to Idaho the first stop we made was at our storage unit. I posted before about stuffing the beanbag into the trunk, and we also stuffed two huge tubs of kitchen crap and a very large suitcase filled with clothes. but before we unloaded all of that, we wanted to get our rock climbing gear out.
And of course, its in the back of the storage unit, towards the bottom of a stack of tubs! So I climbed on back there and began rearranging things so we could get our gear out, but in the process I packed myself in. => Silly me lol
On Friday we went to Brett's wedding (previous post) and on Saturday we went to the Miller family reunion! They reserved this place in Rock Springs. It had two GIAGANTIC slip-n-slides and a big zipline! What a fun place!
Jakob, Jared's older brother, wanted to go down the slip-n-slide but didn't want to get wet, so he tried this position. A little further down the slide one of his cousins pushed him so he got all wet! All that balancing skill for nothing! =>
Jared's sisters Katie and Melissa were just having the time of their lives, getting as wet as they could!
Jared didn't want to miss out on all the fun, so of course he grabbed the biggest tube, to try and be king of the slip-n-slide, but again, some of his cousins put the kaibosh on that and totally rammed into him, flipping him over! Oh so funny!!!
The party really got started when Drew and Karen, Jared's parents, went down! They are so fun and cute together! =>
Jared decided he wanted his body to meet the sun. => Haha Look at that handome stud with the huge farmers tan!! I love him!!
This zip line was definately not what I expected. The zipper things you hold on to come on and off, and don't clip on, just lift on! I thought for sure I was going to turn my body the wrong way or something and have it get off the cable and I go plumiting to the ground!
But it didn't, and I am still alive and kicking! But it was a littlee touch and go there for a while because to get off, you have to run on the ground to slow down or you would hit a big metal wall at the bottom, and my stop running was a little rusty. =>
There was this beautiful, manmade waterfall behind the zipline! And of course we had to get pictures by it! =>
This is like the twentieth shot! We are not very good at taking pictures of us and capturing something in the background! => But it finally worked! Yay!
While walking back to the coverd area with the food, we passed the top of the slip-n-slide, where a lot of his family was waiting to go! It was like a slip-n-slide party!! =>
And before people started leaving, we needed to take a family picture! All of Jared's siblings were there! It was so fun to see them all again!
There are two pictures that I put up because I like different things about both of them, so if there was a way I could combine them, I would => But I can't so I figured if I put both of them up, I will have covered my bases =>
This is Jared and his dad! They always have to have a talk about politics or money or some political thing before they leave! I think it is so cute! And I tried to catch them in action, but a pose is cute too!!
After the family reunion we went back to Jakobs house and I took a nap. And when I woke up, this is what I woke up to.... the boys glued to the screen playing Halo 3! These boys could play this all day if their wives let them! Personally I think this game is stupid and pointless, you just go around killing eachother. Now Mario Cart, thats a good video game! => hahaha
That night we went to Olive Garden with Jakob, Haylie and their adorable baby Madison! I think this picture is so cute! Can't you just see the love for their baby gushing out!?!?! Thanks again for letting us crash at your house Jakob and Haylie!
We had so much fun on our mini vacation in Idaho! Now only two more weeks of selling then off to the tropics with my family!! We can make it! =>

Brett and Raini's Wedding!

Jared and I went up to daho this past weekend for two big events. One of them was his best friend Brett's wedding! He married a girl, Raini, that he had met up at BYU-I, and its fun because we knew her before their dating career took off! They got married on Friday July 31 in the Idaho Falls temple! It is my first wedding that I went to, and it made me realize how much of my cereomny I don't remember. What a bummer! But it was such a privilage to be able to be there for that!
This is us just after the ceremony, waiting for the lovely couple!
And the three amios, waiting for their fourth amigo. => Don't they all look so handsome in their pink ties!?!?! hahahaIt takes a while for them to come out, so Jared and I snuck in the time to take a picture in front of the temple sign!Horray I am getting more pictures with Jared!! hehehe
The gang, all together again! I thought it was pretty funny when Brett walked out and he was wearing blue, and all at once the boys were like "What!?!?! You get blue and we are stuck with pink" Oh that was so funny! But they all look so sharp!
The bride and groom were taking pictures around temple grounds with their families, but they wanted the boys to stick around for pictures later, so of course we took some of our own! =>
The flowers were just absolutely beautiful! And look, another picture of me and Jared!! Woot woot. Its not just going to be two pictures to represent a whole year! =>
This is one of the cutest wedding pictures of the day, in my opinion! It speaks so much about their personalities!! =>
Our table at the lunch-in! They held it at the Shilo Inn just across the river from the temple! It was delicious food and very yummy!
And then, of course, was early to the reception where upon thousands and thousands of pictures were taken! I forgot what a tiring day wedding days are! And I am so grateful I don't have to do that again!! =>
After loads of pictures were taken and guests started arriving, we went out to destroy, I mean decorate Brett's truck! Jared has been anxiously awaiting payback for almost a year! This is the truck before. Can you tell Jared is excited for what he is about to do? =>
He was entirely too excited for this! It was the best part of his day, which is why most of the rest of this post is devoted to his masterpiece! hahaha
People in action... it started out just the five of us, and we started so early because Jed and Marcy still had to make a couple hour drive back to Jerome and get to sleep early because they were working early in the morning. But as we got going, some of Bretts young cousins saw what we were doing, so they joined in the fun. Yes, we were inialating this truck!!
Some of the decorating team!! THey were so proud of it!! I wrote on the windows some things, while most of them wrapped the car. Then I even wrote random things in layers around the syran wrap, so the car would look slightly more colorful! =>
One of Brett's many nicknames is Croc, don't ask why, I don't truely know, it must be a guy thing. But one of Jared's shining moments is when he drew something that actually resembled a crocodile! Good job Handsome!!
And of course, there had to be some iffy sayings, but not too iffy. => So we only did part of some. hahaha
And a prominent "Just Married" is a must. I was appointed on writing duty since I have "cheerleader" handwriting. I find that pretty funny because I don't have the girliest writing, but compared to all these boys, I guess I do =>
Oh just look at this thing!!
It looks like a spider threw up on it! No, like millions of spiders threw up on it!!
I dare you to try and guess how much syran wrap is on that truck, go on, take a guess.........
2400 SQUARE FEET OF SYRAN WRAP!!!!!!! Thats right!! Like the size of a small house!!! This thing was COVERED!!!! And it was the boy's pride and joy! They were soooo pleased with themselves!! => And this took them close to 2 hours to do!!
And when we went inside we had enough timee to eat some food, go thru the line, and then they cut the cake! We couldn't have planned better timing!! But her cake was gorgeous!!
They were so cute in cutting the cake! And they were nice and didn't shove things in eachothers faces, which I think is very nice.
And now for the best part... hahaha although Brett did cheat and he snuck a knife so he just cut through it, but it still too him a good 15-20 minutes to get it all cleaned off!!
And once Brett got his side clear enough to open the door, he went over to help Raini, who was trying to tear thru it by hand! She was such a trooper! And she did get impressively far without Bretts knife! =>
Oh it was so fun to watch them take it all off!! So worth all the time and effort!! And Jared is fully satisfied that he got his revenge! And the funny thing is, this car is leagues more covered than ours was!
This is a picture of our car, almsot a year ago. Holy cow, I can't believe it has been almost a year!!! There was writing on the windows, which took forever to come off, and they were able to get in our car, so confetti was ALL over, but I still think the truck beats this 10,000 to 1! If this trend continues, I pitty the next friend that gets married! I can only imagine how bad his car is going to be! =>
